Wednesday 5th August - Windsurf ***** - The Manor at Felixstowe – sunny
periods.
F2 282 Ride with Tushingham Lightning 6.5m and 38 fin.
Fin – 26.90 knot max, 24.49 knot ave., 17.48 knot hour (year PB), 20.38
knot mile, 46.17 km., 17.22 knot alpha.
For the second day in a row the wind was 20 knots from the SW, we had a
choice of venues from Point clear to Levington but again decided to stay
local and meet up with Neil Hurrell at The Manor just after 8.30 after
dropping Mag off at the end of the prom. Neil rigged 6.9 and I rigged as
yesterday, 6.5 on my 115 lt. while Felixstowe newcomer another Rob went for
7.3 as his smaller sail was being repaired and that was always going to be
too big and sadly, he ended up with a bloodied face, hope he is OK! I was
first out and again went for my usual none stop hour which in the end was
over an hour and a half covering 28 miles:) I didn’t think it was overly
fast as my legs ached from yesterdays long session but ended up with a
seasons best of 17.48 so was well pleased:) I beat down the beach a groyne
or two and found some smooth water close to the beach and again out by the
Wadgate post where the Manor break was working again. This is a nice long
section of waves with smooth water to the left where I got some cracking
gybes. When the sun came out it was as good as Felixstowe gets with a
lovely sky which attracted several people to the beach. The wind was going
a little patchy so I came ashore for a snack as it dropped to 9 knots, I
stopped for awhile but the wind stayed light, I could have set up my foil
but was knackered from two hectic session so decided to pack up and head
for home and sods law came into play as the wind did eventually pick up but
never mind as I have had two 5 Star sessions in a row. Then after lunch
with Mag I did my exercises and dozed in the sunny back garden:) Looks like
no wind now until some marginal N,Easterlies from Sunday, perhaps the bikes
will have to come out again!
